FisherArt
Welcome from FC Fisher
I am mainly a landscape artist, inspired by Scotland in its rich variety. My work frequently features the wild beauty of the Highlands and the Western Isles. I am also interested in painting historic monuments and historic buildings. Some subjects are iconic and well known, while others are more obscure. My original paintings are generally brushed in acrylic on board or canvas. I am becoming increasingly expressive and abstract in my use of colour and texture, bringing a subject alive.

My recent work falls loosely into two categories. In the Timeless Landscapes Portfolio, I focus on places that seem to be frozen in time. The Norse Mill (pictured) shows a serene landscape that appears un-changed since the Norse period around a thousand years ago. Some of the historic structures featured (including the Norse Mill) sit in the wildest landscapes. They embody a harmony between the built and natural environments.

In the Mountains and Shores Portfolio, the inspiration comes from the sublime natural beauty of Scotland. Natural landscapes may have a strong historic dimension. Some landscapes showcase Scotland's varied geology, flora and fauna. Glencoe lit up (pictured) shows the dramatic glen and its dual character. The landscape is simultaneously inspiring, in its spectacular scenery, but also edgy in atmosphere, haunted as it is by tragedy.
